Emma's Story

I had a great time at the U.N! It was loads of fun! Anyway before we went to the U.N we had to learn about the U.N. I was facinated by the U.N. I couldn't wait to go. After weeks of waiting it finally came, we were going to the U.N! We went on the bus sitting with our friends. Having a blast! Laughing  After two hours of waiting we were in New York! I was staring outside, Watching New Yorks beuty. Until i caught my eyes on something. There where the flags! The flags of the United Nations. They where all rised upp! Flowing in the air. It was amazing! The bus stop and we ate lunch. As we got up from the bus, we took a picture. We went through security. We stepped in and it was huge! The first thing that caught my eye was the golden sphere. it was cool to see it. The next thing i saw was the stained glass it was bigger than i imagined. We sat down as we waited for Ms.Smolen to come back. As we waited we saw this neucluer exibit. I was shocked on how many people it affected. Many died and it was depressing. When Ms.Smolen came back we where divided into two groups. My group got in line where we met our tour guide. she gave us these head phones to hear her better.

Astrid's Story

When I went to the United Nations,  I learned many things and interesting facts. One interesting fact I learned about the United Nations is that in the building they have shops and that the profits go to the poor and the hungry children and adults. Another interesting fact, I learned from the trip was that Obama signed a peace treaty with the Russian representative to stop nuclear explosions. I thought that was really amazing to me because nuclear explosions causes a lot of harm to young souls and adults, which is heartbreaking. The last interesting fact I learned at the UN, was that there is this carving which is the Ivory Carving which is beautiful. This carving is made out of 8 elephant tusk, but throughtout the years elephant became endangered and now its illegal to use elephant tusk. I thought this fact was very interesting because its not fair to kill elephant just for their tusk. At the end of the day, I was very pleased with this trip which was amazing and the amazing facts that I learned. As you can see I learned some interesting facts and it was an awesome experience we all have a blast.

Elizabeth`s Story

Elizabeth Salazar write one thing I learned about the UN is the big huge boat was only used on the King's birthday and they have a replica of it and  it was a gift from Thailand.  The UN has a huge conference room with 1400 seats. The most exciting thing I saw was the golden world, even though it was cracked and broken, it was amazing.

lizbeth's Story

Lizbeth Vazquez wrote that the United Nations has only 192 representatives.   Each 2 years the representatives switch the secretary, except the China, Russia, France, United Kingdom and the United States.  The United Nations area cost 8.5 billion dollars to build.  It has 4 buildings, the library, conference building, secretary building, and the main building. The most amazing thing was the sports/school box.

Natalia's Story

Natalia Kembaren wrote that the most significant thing I saw was the glass that was surgically removed from a girl’s cheek. I just wonder why the world could be so cruel to others.

Daisha's Story

Daisha Haynes wrote that she learned that people were affected when countries drop nuclear bombs. I learned that every year a different country is picked from a hat to hang their flag first.  I learned that Zimbabwe is the last country in ABC order! My favorite part of the tour was getting to see all the donations.
